Endings and new beginnings

It's hard to believe that seven years have passed since Joel started school and he's now about to leave primary. Before it all ends though he took part (as did Christopher) in the school concert a couple of weeks ago, singing and strumming his ukelele. Then it was his last Sports Day. Last week we went to his new school (Bennett Memorial) where he met his new classmates and his Year Tutor. It was nerve racking for me and Jess to see him called up to the front and walk out with all these kids he doesn't know, but we know it won't take him long to make friends.

Even more nerve racking was saying goodbye to him yesterday morning as he headed off to the Isle of Wight for the week with all the Year 6's. I must admit, I did shed a tear as Jess drove off down the road as Joel waved frantically out of the window. And he's still got his starring role as 'Jack' in a couple of weeks, three days before they break up. Well, if he does half as well at Bennett as he has at St.Matthew's and St'John's we'll be very proud parents indeed.

Last weekend we were very privileged to attend the ordination of a good friend of ours, the now Reverend Keith Roddy. What a great occasion to share with him and Jo and other friends from church who made the trip up to Lichfield. It was also great to see Keith look the part and I have never seen him look to neat and well-groomed. Proud of ya, mate!
